Fun Fleet Rules (Rev. #2 May 15 2011)
1. The Inland Rules of the Road apply with no other special racing rules except for the modifications listed below.
2. Monitor marine channel 72 from 1 hour before the race until the rendezvous after the race.
3. All boats participating must meet US Coast Guard safety requirements.
4.
The Fun Fleet racing rules are based on the US Sailing rules of racing 2001 – 2004.
5.
The use of an engine after the prep signal within 300 feet of the starting line is prohibited until after the race.
6.
Spinnakers or other special downwind sails are prohibited except for designated races. During these races a 10% rating penalty will be applied. Use of twin head sails are not allowed.
7.
A boat on port tack will keep clear of a starboard tack boat. A boat on starboard should hail “starboard” if the port tack boat needs to alter course.
8.
When 2 boats are on the same tack the windward boat shall keep clear of the leeward boat.
9.
A boat clear astern shall keep clear of the boat ahead. Once an overlap occurs, rule number 8 applies.
10.
A tacking or jibing boat shall keep clear of a non-tacking boat.
11.
The keep clear boat shall clearly show and verbally indicate her intentions in a timely way.
12.
It is the responsibility of all participants to avoid boat-to-boat contact. If a contact appears eminent, the right of way boat should turn to the same tack as the burden vessel.
13.
During the start, leeward boats do not need to give windward boats room to pass by the committee boat.
14.
When 2 boats are approaching a turning mark the outside boat must give the inside boat room if an overlap is present before entering a 2 boat length distance from the mark.
15.
Alcohol use while operating a vessel is prohibited by federal, state and local laws.
16.
Alcohol intake at any after race function is the individual responsibility of each adult, no under age drinking is permitted.
17.
Do not touch the marks.
18.
Any race participant must complete a CSA waiver prior to participating in the racing schedule.
 
Penalties  (No Protests allowed):

Abandonment:

Penalties are self-imposed by the Skipper: After 4 hours for all boats which have not finished.
Starting too early: Round one of the starting marks. The entire race, if the first boat has not finished after 3 hours.
Touch a right-of way boat or force her to alter course: Take a 720 degree turn. Or by the RC prior to or during the race.
Other violations take a 360 degree turn.
